The idea for our first fundraiser came to us while researching the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Once we chose to adopt from the Congo, we felt we needed to become experts on the land, the people and the culture. Our knowledge of DRC was limited, so we started with location. Where in Africa was the Congo? With the help of Mapquest, we found that Fort Wayne is 7,000 miles from Kinsasha, the capital of Congo. Since Jim is a triathlete, his thoughts quickly drifted to running and riding. Our first fundraiser was born! Jim committed to running and riding the 7,000 mile distance in the months ahead. The fundraising portion of it is that we are looking for individuals and companies to sponsor Jim's ride/run by making a per mile pledge. Even a pledge of 1 cent per mile would equal a $70 donation to help us a adopt! If you have questions, feel free to post a comment.
